Früh aufstehen um den 7:30 Uhr Bus nach Gracias zu bekommen, so dass ich schon um 9:00 Uhr früh da war, was mir nen ganzen Tag zum Dorf erkunden ließ. Ein sehr nettes kleines Bergdorf. Ein paar schöne Kirchen aus der Kolonialzeit - teilweise mit großen Erdbebenschäden -, entspanntes Dorfleben und sehr nette Leute. Ca. ne Stunde entfernt gibt es heiße Quellen, zu denen ich gewandert bin. So schön, besonders weil es hier in Zentralamerika ja eigentlich (fast) nur kalte Duschen gibt... Wieder zurück hieß es dann Rucksack packen und auf zum Eingang vom Celaque Nationalpark. Nach ca. 2 Stunden hab ich die sehr einfachen Hütten am Eingang erreicht - der Ausgangspunkt für meinen Versuch morgen den Cerro Las Minas zu erklimmen - der höchste Berg von Honduras.

Getting up early to catch the 7:30 am bus to Gracias so that I arrived there at 9:00am which gave me a whole day to explore the town. A really nice tranquil mountain village. Some nice colonial churches - some of them still beeing reconstructed from earthquake damage- relaxed village life and very friendly people. About an hour from town are some hot springs that I visited. So nice, especially with (almost) only cold showers here in central America... Back in town I had to get my day pack ready and went up to the entrance of the Celaque National Park. After about 2 hours I got to the basic cabin they have up there, which should be the starting point for tomorrows attempt to climb the Cerro Las Minas - the highest peak in Honduras.

Um 5:00 Uhr morgens aufstehen und um 5:30 Uhr auf dem Trail. Sonnenaufgang ist so gegen 6:00 Uhr morgens, also hieß es fü die erste halbe Stunde oder so den Weg mit der Taschenlampe finden. Aber es ist so schön zu sehen und hören wie die Natur aufwacht... Nach 2 Stunden kam ich zu diesem wunderschönen Wasserfall - perfekt für ne kleine Frühstückssnackpause. Ne halbe Stunde später war ich schon am ersten Campingplatz und dann fing auch der harte Teil an. Ne weitere Stunde steiler Anstieg bis zum zweiten Campingplatz oben in den Wolken. Hier gabs dann auch "richtiges", leckeres Frühstück und ein bißchen Zeit zum ausruhen. Von da waren es dann noch 2 Stunden bis zum Gipfel - je näher man kommt umso härter wird es... Aber nach insgesamt 6 Stunden war ich endlich da und hatte sogar das Glück ein bißchen was durch die Wolken zu sehen. Aber das schöste ist doch durch den Wolckenwald zu wandern. Wie immer hat das bergab Wandern nur einen Bruchteil der Zeit zum Hochkommen gekostet. Aber nicht genug für Daniel - ca. ne halbe Stunde von der Hüte geht ein anderer Trail zu nem wunderschönen Wasserfall ab. Ich lag gut in der Zeit, also auf gehts zum Wasserfall. Wenn es denn mal so einfach gewesen wäre... Ca. nach ner halben Stunde steilem Anstieg konnte ich den Wasserfall halbwegs erspähen. Es gab auch nen Schild zu nem Aussichtspunkt. Böderweise endete der Weg leider im grßen Nichts - ich hab ihm zumindest nicht gefunden - so dass ich im Endeffekt querfeldein zurückgeklettert bin. Irgendwann bin ich wieder auf nen Weg gestossen, so dass ich letztendlich doch irgendawann wieder an der Hütte angekommen bin. Gerade rechtzeitig vor dem großen Regen. Das Problem war, dass ich noch zurück nacj Gracias wollte und dass es langsam dunkel wurde. Also hab ich mich in mein Regenzeug eingepackt und 5 Minuten nachdem ich los bin hat der Regen dann auch aufgehört. Gegen 18:30 Uhr war ich dann endlich zurück in Gracias - duschen, essen, schlafen. Was für ein Tag!!!

Getting up at 5:00 am to hit the trail at 5:30 am. Sunrise is at about 6:00 am so the first half hour or so I had to use my flashlight to find the trail. But it's so wunderful to see and hear the nature waking up... After 2 hours I reached this gorgeous waterfall - a good place to have a little breakfast snack break. Half an hour later I already reached the first campground and that was where the tough part started. Another hour of steep climbing to reach the second campground up in the clouds. This was also the point for a "real", good breakfast and some time to rest. From there it was another 2 hours to get to the top - the closer you get the harder it gets... But after about 6 hours total, I arrived there and I even had the luck to get at least a little bit of a view from there. However, the most beautyful part was definitly to hike through the cloud forrest. As always the hike down only took a fraction of the time to get up. But not enough for Daniel - about half an hour from the cabin the trail splits leading to a gorgeous waterfall. I made good time so far, so lets do the one hour trip. If it would have been that easy... After about half an hour steep climbing I could kind of catch a view on the falls. However a sign to a viewpoint pointed down the hill again. Unfortunately the trail ended in the big nowhere - at least I couldn't find it - so I ended up climbing back up through the forrest. Eventually I found some trail again which lead back to the original one so that I finally reached the cabin. Just in time to hide from the massive rain that started. The problem was that I wanted to get back to Gracias and that it slowely started to get dark. So I put on all my rain gear and 5 minutes after I started to get down to Gracias it of course stopped to rain again. About 6:30 pm I finally reach Gracias - shower, eat, sleep. What a day!!!
