Heute hieß es die ganze Reise von hinten anzutreten: Um 7 Uhr morgens mit der Panga (kleines Motorboot) von El Castilo nach San Carlos und dann mit der Fähre Richtung Granada. Dies Mal bin ich aber schon in Ometepe ausgestiegen, was nur ca. 10 Stunden dauert. Die Fähre war nicht ganz so voll wie auf der Hinfahrt und ausser einem wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang ist nichts erwähnenswertes passiert. Ich bin um 1 Uhr morgens auf Ometepe angekommen und hab glücklicherweise Raymond getroffen der alle backpacker in ein Hostel brachte, dass nur halb so teuer war wie alle anderen. Natürlich war er auch ein Tourguide und wolltw uns auf die Vulkane führen. Aber zuerst: Schlafen!

Today I had to do the whole journey in reverse: Catching the 7 am panga (little boat) from El Castillo to San Carlos and then the ferry to Granada. This time I went off the ferry in Ometepe already, which is only a 10 hour ride... The ferry wasn´t as crowded this time and apart from a gorgeous sunset there wasn´t a lot happening. I arrived on Ometepe at 1am at night and luckily met Raymond at the port who directed all the backpackers to a hostel half the price of all the other ones in town. Of course he was a tourguide, too and wanted to lead us up the vulcanos. But first: sleep!

Ein Tag zum Entspannen und endlich mal wieder Fahrrad fahren. Ich bin mit dem Rad (was 5 Minuten bevor ich zurück war auseinander fiel) um die größere der beiden Inseln, bin zur Laguna Charco Verde, der grünen Lagune gefahren und war schwimmen und hab wunderschöne Ausblicke auf Vulkan Maderas genossen.

A day to relax and finally do some biking again. I surounded the bigger of the two islands by bike (which fall apart 5 minutes before I was back), went and to Laguna Charco Verde, a green lagoon and had some good swims and beautiful views of Vulcano Maderas.

Der Tag an dem ich meinen ersten Vulkan erklommen habe. Um 5 Uhr morgens gings los bei leider wolkigem Wetter. Keiner sonst wollte den Vulkan besteigen, also war ich alleine mit Raymond, der mir "Freundschaftspreis" gemacht hat. Der Aufstieg war ziemlich anstrengend zum Schluß und das Wetter wurde auch nicht besser. Auf dem Gipfel war es ziemlich wolkig und man konnte nix sehen. Aber auf dem Rückweg klarte es endlich auf und wir hatten einen atemberaubenden Blick.

The day to climb my first vulacano. Starting at 5am, realizing the cloudy weather and starting the climb with Raymond. Nobody else wanted to do the hike so I went on my own with him for a "special price". The hike up was really exhausting in the end, and the weather didn´t become better. At the top it was really chilly and we couldn´t see anything. But on the hike down again the sky finally cleared up and we had some gorgeous views on the area.

Am nächsten Tag bin ich zur Finca Magdalena gefahren, welche am Fuß des Vulkan Maderas liegt. Aber zuerst gab´s nen Tag Pause bevor ich den anderen Vulcan in Angriff nehme. Ich genoß einen wunderschönen Tag mit entspannen, lesen und der Erkundung des natürlichen Swimmingpools. Obwohl es wirklich wunderschön aussieht gabs doch nen Haken: Eine dieselbetriebene Pumpe um die Felder in der Trockenzeit zu bewässern direkt nebenan... Am Abend hab ich Matias aus Chile getroffen, der mitmachen wollte beim Vulkan besteigen Nr. 2.
So sollte es am nächsten morgen um 6 am dann auch wieder losgehen und unser Freund Raymond brachte sogar noch 2 Schweizerinnen mit. Wetter war zwar besser heute aber immer noch bewölkt, und der Trail war sehr matschig. Wie auch immer, obwohl wir nicht wirklich viel vom Kratersee gesehen haben, hatten wir doch ne Menge Spass. Auf dem Weg zurück entstand dann die Idee ein wenig zu feiern am Abend - immerhin war Samstag. So haben Matias und ich dann unsere Sachen geschnappt und sind mit den anderen zurück nach Altagracia, einem "größeren Dorf auf der Insel. Wir haben dann im Hostel ein bißchen getrunken und uns im Endeffekt doch noch entschieden loszuziehen, Raymond hinterher zur grßen Party, die ganz nahe ist. Das ganz nahe hat irgendwie nicht so wirklich funktioniert und nach ner halben Stunde laufen haben wir aufgegeben und sind zurück.

The next day I went on to Finca Magdalena, which is at the bottom of Vulcan Maderas. I rested for a day though before climbing the other vulcano. So I had a wunderful day of relaxing, reading and checking out the natural swimmingpool. Although it looks nice there was one drawback: The pump to water the fields next to it in the dry season... In the evening I met Matias, a guy from Chile who agreed to join in for the Maderas hike the next day.
So we started the next morning at 6 am and our friend Raymond even brought 2 swiss girls who wanted to climb the vulcano with us. Weather was a little better but still cloudy and the trail was really muddy. Anyway, although we did not see much of the crater lake we had a lot of fun. On the way down the idea came up to party a little the night - after all it was satureday. So Matias and I grabbed our stuff and went back with the others to Altagracia, a "bigger" town on the island. So we started some drinking at the hostal and finally decided to follow Raymond to the big party, which is supposed to be very close. Well, the very close part didn´t work out and after half an hour of walking we gave up and went back.
