Ich hab mich dazu durchgerungen, die lange reise an die Karibikküste anzutreten um die Korn Islands zu erkunden. Mittwoch abend um 21 Uhr gings los mit dem Bus von Managua. Donnerstag mrgen war ich dann um 3 Uhr morgens in Rama wo ein Boot um 5.30 Uhr morgens nach Bluefields fuhr. In Bluefields haben sie mir erzählt, dass heute keine Fähre zu den Inseln fährt und keiner konnte mir sagen, wann die nächste fährt. Genauer gesagt jeden konnte mir was sagen, aber jeden erzählte mir leider was anderes. Wie auch immer, ich hab mich entschlossen zuerst zur Laguna de Perlas zu fahren und da zu versuchen rauszubekommen, wann die Fähre fährt. Also, offensichtlich sollte die nächste Fähre am Freitag um 20 Uhr fahren. In Perl Lagon haben sie mir gesagt, dass ich das Boot gegen Mittag nehmen kann um nach Bluefields zurück zu gehen und die Fähre zu kriegen - leider eine Lüge. Es fuhr kein Boot mehr nach Bluefields als ich zum Hafen kam und so da&szllig; ich fest in Pearl Lagon. Aber davon abgesehen hatte ich eine großartige Zeit da. Der Tourismus ist da noch nicht wirklich angekommen und die Leute da sind wirklich sehr nett und einladend. Es gab auch 2 Eingeborenendörfer in der Nähe, welche ich erkundet habe. Also war es gar nicht ganz so schlimm einen zusätzlichen Tag dort zu verbringen, davon abgesehen, dass die nächste Fähre zu den Inseln erst nächsten Mittwoch fahren sollte.

I decided to go on the long journey to the caribbean in order to explore the Korn Islands. And that really was an adventure. Starting wednesday evening by busat 9 pm from Managua and beeing thursday morning at around 3 am in Rama where the boat leaves on 5:30 am to Bluefields. In Bluefields they told me there is no ferry to the islands today and nobody could tell me when it goes. Actually everybody told me, but everybody something different. Anyway, I decided to go to the Laguna de Perlas first, to hang out there for a day and try to figure the times for the ferry. So I figured out that the ferry leaves friday night at 8 pm. They told me I can leave Pearl Lagon at about noon, to go back to Bluefields and catch the ferry - which was simply a lie. There was no more boat going to Bluefields by the time I got to the harbor, so I was stuck in Pearl Lagon. But apart form that I had a great time there. Tourism did not really arrive there yet and people are really nice and friendly. There are even two indigenous villages near by, which I explored. So the extra day was not too bad, except that the next ferry to the islands was supposed to leave next wednesday.

Am Samstag hab ich dann endlich Pearl Lagon verlassen und bin zurück nach Bluefields. Unglaublich wie viele Schiffwracks Hurricane Mitch hier hinterlassen hat. Eigentlich wollte ich zurück an die Pazifikküste fahren, weil ich absolut kein bock mehr auf die ganze Fährengeschichte hatte, aber in Bluefields hab ich Geo (Israel) , Morten (Sweden), Romina (Austria) und Sara (Switzerland) getroffen, die auch versuchen wollten auf die Inseln zu kommen. Also sind wir nach Bluff gefahren, welches der eigentliche Hafen von Bluefields ist von wo ein Frachtschiff am Sonntag morgen zu den Korn Islands fahren sollte. Und - welch Wunder - wir sind wirklich am Sonntag abend in Little Korn angekommen. Hat mich also alles in allem 4 Tage gekostet um zu diesen Inseln zu kommen. Aber es hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Wunderschöner Strand, unglaubliches Schnorcheln, nette Leute und ne Menge feiern bis zum Sonnenaufgang...

So satureday I finally left Pearl Lagon for Bluefields again. It is amazing how many wrecks are lying here from hurricane Mitch. Originally I thought of going back to the pazific as I did not want to deal with all this ferry stuff anymore. But then I met Geo (Israel) , Morten (Sweden), Romina (Austria) and Sara (Switzerland) who wanted to try to get there as well. So we went to Bluff together which is the mayor harbor of Bluefields and from where a cargoship was supposed to leave on sunday. And - oh wonder - we really arrived at Little Korn on sunday evening. So it took me more or less 4 days to get to this island. But it was so worth going. Beautyful beaches, great snorkeling, nice people and lots of partying until sunrise...
