Nach Tegucigalpa zu kommen hat nicht wirklich Spaß gemacht. Ich musste den Bus in Ocotal wechseln, wo ich dann gleich Mittagspause gemacht und mir das Dorf ein bißchen angeguckt habe. Von da ging´s mit dem Bus nach Las Manos zur Grenze, zu Fuß über die Grenze und mit dem nächsten Bus nach El Paraiso. Leider war der letzte Bus nach Tegucigalpa schon voll, also bin ich weiter nach Danli, wo mehr Busse nach Tegucigalpa fahren sollten. Was sie mir da leider nicht gesagt haben ist, dass die Riesenschlange nicht zum Ticket kaufen ist, sondern um sich für den Bus anzustellen. Und so wartete ich ca. 2 Stunden in der Schlange bis ich mein Ticket gekauft habe, was effektiv eine weitere >Stunde warten bedeutete. Aber so gegen 21:00 Uhr (14 Stunden on the road) war ich endlich in Tegucigalpa und hab sogar gleich nen Hotel gefunden. Ziemlich ranzig, aber nen Platz zum Schlafen.

Getting to Tegucigalpa was kind of a pain. I had to change busses in Ocotal and used this as a lunch break and a quick walk through the city. From there to I took a bus to Las Manos at the border, crossed the border and hopped on the next bus to El Paraiso. Unfortunately the last bus to Tegucigalpa was already full, so I hopped on the next bus to Danli, where there were more busses to Tegucigalpa. What they did not tell me there was, that the huge line is not to purchase the ticket, but the line to get on the bus. So I stood in line for about two hours before purchasing my ticket, which meant that I had to wait about an hour longer. But at around 9pm (14 hours on the road) I finally arrived in Tegucigalpa and even found a hotel right away. Shabby, but a place to sleep.

Weil ich ein paar Tage hier bleiben wollte, hab ich Montag früh erstmal das Hotel gewechselt bevor ich die Stadt erkundet habe. Zuerst bin ich nach Suyapa, ca. 20 Minuten mit dem Bus, wo diese riesige Basilica steht, die sie in erster Linie für eine 6cm große Holzstatue - die Jungfrau von Suyapa - gebaut haben. Diese Statue ist allerdings nur für eine Woche im Jahr - um den 2. Februar - in der Basilica und den Rest des Jahres in einer kleinen Kirche ein bißchen weiter den Berg hoch. Wie auch immer, ich hatte das Glück genau nach dem Sonntag der großen Feier da zu sein und konnte immerhin noch die ganzen Aufrämarbeiten sehen (und natürlich die Statue). Dannach bin ich noch zum Friedensdenkmal im Parque La Paz geklettert. Coole Aussicht auf die Stadt (man beachte das Hollywood style Coca Cola sign im Bild). Aber auß den schönen Aussichten hat die Stadt nicht nicht so viel zu bieten. Ziemlich schmutzig und eher ein typisches Dorf, das zu einer Stadt mit einer Millionen Einwohner angewachsen ist.

As I planed to stay for a few days, I changed hotels early in the morning on monday before I started exploring the city. I first went to Suyapa, 20 minutes by bus, where they have this huge Basilica, which they mainly built for a 6cm wodden statue - the virgin of Suyapa. However this statue is only in the Basilica for one week a year around Feburary 2^nd. The rest of the year it is in a small church just up the hill. Anyway, I was lucky enough to be there right after the sunday of the big celebration and could at least see all the cleaning up that was going on (and of course the statue). After that I climbed up to the peace monument in parque la paz. Great views of the city (note the hollywood style coca cola sign on the picture). But apart from the good views, the city is not that exciting. Pretty dirty and rather a typical town grown to a city with 1 million people living there.

Dienstag ging´s dann zum Parque National La Tigra, in der Nähe con Tegucigalpa und wirklich schön. Um die 4 Stunden wandern ohne einen Menschen zu treffen, wunderschöner Wald, Ausblicke ins Tal und ich hab sogar den Wasserfall am Ende des La cascada (=Wasserfall) Weges gefunden - (was gar nicht so einfach war, weil ich einen anderen Weg weitergehen mußte, also war es gar nicht so offensichtlich, dass ich den Weg weiter muss, um den Wasserfall zu finden.) Wie auch immer, war nen sehr cooler Tag und ich mußte sogar nur 2 Stunden auf den Bus warten. War um 15:45 Uhr an der Haltestelle, und hab den 15:00 Uhr Bus um 5 Minuten verpaßt und natürlich kam der 17:00 Uhr Bus auch erst um 17:45 Uhr...

Tuesday I went to the Parque National La Tigra, which is close to Tegucigalpa and really nice. Some 4 hours of hiking without seeing anyone, and beautyful forest, views on the valley and I even found the waterfall at the end of the la cascada (=waterfall) trail - (which wasn´t that easy because I had to continue another trail so it wasn´t that obvious that I have to go on to find the falls). Anyway, good times, and I only had to wait for two hours for the bus to go back. Arriving at the bus station at 3:45pm, I missed the 3pm bus by 5 minutes and of course the 5pm bus didn´t show up until 5:45pm either...
