Bevor es losging nach San Salvador, hab ich noch ein wenig die entspannte Atmosphäre von Alegria genossen. Ich bin ein wenig durchs dorf gebummelt und hab in der Sonne ein bißchen gelesen. Aber irgendwann hieß es dann auf zu den verstopften Strassen der Hauptstadt. Was für ein Wechsel!!! Eine sehr amerikanische Stadt mit vielen Einkaufszentren und fastfood...

Before I went on my way to El Salvador I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of Alegria a little more and strolled around town a little and sat in the sun to read. But at some point I had to leave to get into the busy streets of the capital. What a change!!! A really american city with lots of malls and fastfood...

Ich hab die Innenstadt ein wenig erkundet und dabei the faszinierende Kirche El Rosario gefunden. Sieht von außen aus wie ein Hanger, aber innen ist sie wunderschön, wenn das Licht reinfällt. Dannch wollte ich mir angucken, wie die Leute hier ihr WOchenende verbringen und bin zum Parque Balboa ca. 20 Minuten ausserhalb. War nicht wirklich spannend - in Berlin ist mehr los ;-) Aber die Puerto del Diablo (Teufelstür) in der Nähe war sehr cool und bot eine wunderschöne Ausicht auf die ganze Gegend.

I explored downtown a little today and found the amazing church El Rosario. Looks like a hangar from the outside, but the inside is really amazing when the light comes in. After that I wanted to see, how people spent their weekend and went to parque Balboa about 20 minutes from town. Wasn´t too exiting - Berlin is more fun ;-) But the Puerto del Diablo (devils door) neer by was amazing and offered gorgeous views on the whole area.

Um 5:30 Uhr morgens gings los nach San Vincente - ca. 1,5 Stunden entfernt - um den Vulkan San Vincente zu besteigen. Rauf und wieder runter dauerte 7 Stunden und es war ein sehr cooler Hike. Die meiste Zeit gings durch Kaffeeplantagen auf einer Art Straße. Aber die letzten 1,5 Stunden gings einen kleinen Weg entlang, der vor einem "no passar" Schild endete. Der Gipfel ist eine Militärbasis mit Hubschrauberlandeplatz und Kommunicationsantennen. Aber obwohl der Guard keine Erlaubnis hatte, hat er mich rein gelassen um den atemberaubenden Blick zu genießen. Allerdings durfte ich nicht fotografieren. Also mußte ich mein "geschafft" Foto ein bißchen weiter unten machen.

Leaving at 5:30 am in the morning to get to San Vincente - about an hour and half away - and climb the vulvano there. It took me 7 hours roundtrip and it was an amazing hike. MOst of the climb was through coffee plantations and on a kind of road. But the last hour and half was just a little trail ending at a "no passar" sign. The top is a military base with helicopter landing platform and communication antennas. But although he had no permission, the guard let me enter and enjoy the gorgeous view. No pictures though. So I had to take my "I made it picture" a little further down.

Noch ein Vulkan: El Boqueron oder Vulcan San Salvador. Nicht so weit weg von San Salvador und nicht annähernd so schwer zu besteigen. Der Bus läßt einen ca 15 Minuten zu Fuß vom Krater entfernt raus. Aber der Krater ist unglaublich, da sich 1917 innen ein zweiter kleiner Krater gebildet hat. Und man kann um den Krater rumlaufen, was ich natürlich gemacht habe.

Another vulcano: El Boqueron or Vulcan San Salvador. Not that far away from San Salvador and not nearly as hard to climb. The bus drops you off about a 15 minute walk from the crater. But the crater is amazing, since a second little crater formed in it in 1917. An you can hike around the crater, which I did of course...

Zurück in San Salvador bin ich noch ein bißchen durch die Stadt gebummelt u.a. zum Plaza Las Americas, wo die El Salvador del Mundo Statue steht - Jesus auf der Welt stehend.

Back in San Salvador I strolled around town a little and went to the Plaza Las Americas where they have the El Salvador del Mundo statue - Jesus standing on top of the world.
